Court Preparation and Apprearance
At Compadre Therapy, we understand that legal proceedings may occasionally require our involvement; however, it’s important to note that while patients are responsible for fees associated with testimony, our therapists are committed to providing objective, fact-based testimony and are bound to testify only to the facts of the case, as qualified by the court.
If a therapist is to be subpoenaed, the patient's attorney or relevant office staff must contact our office to arrange a time during business hours for the subpoena to be served. We respectfully request a minimum of 72 business hours' notice for any court appearance to accommodate necessary adjustments in our therapists’ schedules to minimize disruption to other patients.
The following fee structure applies to court-related services:
-
$500.00 per preparation time and submission of records
-
$100.00 per call
-
$350.00 per hour for depositions
-
$300.00 per hour for testimony
-
$2000 minimum charge per court appearance
-
All attorney costs incurred by the therapist
A retainer of $2,500.00 is required at least five business days before the scheduled court appearance. Any additional charges incurred will be billed after the appearance and are due upon receipt.
If a therapist is subpoenaed and the case is rescheduled with less than three business days' notice before the scheduled appearance, or if the testimony is not given, an additional fee of $750.00 will apply, in addition to the original retainer to compensate for the time reserved for the appearance.
